What is a Data Sharing Tool?

A data sharing tool is a solution that enables businesses to share live, secure data with their business. This allows teams to solve important business here challenges like breaking down silos and speeding up the process of completing projects. It also enhances collaboration by ensuring data transparency and provides new insights.

As the number of enterprise IT applications grows and become more complex, the need for solutions for real-time sharing of data is a necessity in getting business results. From the behaviour of visitors to the signals coming from IoT devices in your workplace or power plant, the amount of data is increasing exponentially, and generating an equally large amount of data integrations.

Many of these integrations have been driven by the desire to improve efficiency, analytics, and revenue streams. The biggest challenge is to move these massive quantities of data, at scale, from source to destination without sacrificing its value. The traditional methods, such as SFTP and pre-signed URLs of objects stored in the store and data movement through ETL processes, don’t scale to the volume of data required and are only applicable to a single vendor solution (e.g., Oracle, AWS Redshift, Snowflake).

There are a myriad of solutions that can help address the challenges of sharing real-time data. A class of platforms, which are aware of the data they contain and act as trusted intermediaries between different applications and applications, could help ease some of these problems. This shifts the burden of managing data flows to the platform provider. It can speed up and simplify data integration by taking away many of the complicated Retry and Re-Transmission features that are built into many traditional tools.
