Antivirus Problems and How to Deal With Them

Few people realize how many problems the industry has to face. Even the top antivirus software can encounter issues. While some are minor and can be resolved quickly, other issues are more serious.

One of the biggest issues is that virus signatures do not provide enough to defend against a variety of threats. It takes antivirus companies some time to issue anti-virus updates when new viruses are discovered. This is because they have to wait until their products are able to detect the virus and send it to be analysed.

In the meantime the virus is bound to spread and it’s very likely that dozens or even hundreds of computers will be infected by the new virus. It may also be spread to other networks. To be efficient, anti-virus software has to be able to identify and stop these infections quickly. This means that heuristic or behaviour analysis tools are more effective than simple signature detection.

Incompatibility is yet another issue. Although most antivirus software developers focus on creating quality products and removing bugs, it is true that different antivirus programs can occasionally cause conflicts.
